Self Love

Out there today there are a lot of self love programs for teens to join and partake in. Today I want to talk about self love and what it means to me and you.

The first self love self program that I want to talk about is Love is Louder. Love is Louder was founded in 2010 by the Jed foundation, Britney snow and MTV. Love is louder is about the outpouring of support online after the lives of multiple teenagers were lost to suicide.
This movement strives to amplify the momentum of other inspiring online campaigns and invite anyone who has felt mistreated, misunderstood or isolated into the conversation. We are here to raise the volume around a critical message -- that love and support is more powerful than the external and internal voices that bring us down, cause us pain and make us feel hopeless.
Love is louder website

In the last year Demi Lovato joined the movement after her struggle with cutting herself and other things. Demi is such a huge inspiration to young people out there today as she reached out and asked for help when she needed it the most. I think Love is Louder is such a great program and teachers you that Love is Louder than the pressure to be perfect. I think its important for teens to reach out when they need help and realise that they are not the only ones out there that need help. There is always someone out there to help you in times of need. To find out more about the love is louder program  and how to get involved click here

The next program I would like to talk about is Radical Self Love. This campaign was started by Gala Darling. Gala shows through this program that self love is important for loving yourself and shows that having confidence is important. I think it is important for you to love yourself and who you are. We are all born equal and different and you should love who we are. You can check out Galas site for more information about Radical Self Love but first I would love to share some tips with you.
1. Keep a small notebook of all the lovely comments people pay you that way when you are feeling down check back to your comment book and feel that instant confidence boost.
2. Create a play list of songs that get you in a good mood eg Burno Mars Just the way you are.
3. Create a list of 100 things you love about yourself. Place the list somewhere where you will see it everyday.
4. Fill in a daily Self Love sheet. Keep the pages in a folder and when you are feeling down look back on it to make you feel happy. You can get the sheet here
5. My final tip is Stand straight, shoulders back, head up and smile. But doing these simple things will give you an instant confidence boost.

The final program I want to talk about is Operation Beautiful. The goal of the Operation Beautiful is to end negative self-talk or “Fat Talk. The mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other women to find. To find out more click here

As you can see there are many self love programs out there. You should always think positive and know that you are beautiful. We are all unique and should love yourself the way you are

So here is the bit where I ask help from you, I would like to know if you have any tips for body shapes or skin tones. Are there any books you recommend? or websites?

As part of my research I will be posting my findings on fallen fashion so you can learn new things that you may not have known before and read what I find out.

Welcome to August and Wish list

Hey all my lovely readers, welcome to August.

I love August as it contains my favourite week of the year, New Zealand Fashion week (29th August to 3rd September). I love that New Zealand fashion week is so unique and gives kiwis the chance to see the latest and greatest in the New Zealand Fashion world. Some of my favourite New Zealand fashion designers are Cybele, Ruby, Sera Lilly, Zambesi and Trelise Cooper. Unfortunately I am not going to any shows which I am disappointed about but there is still the chance to win tickets.
You can check out the official New Zealand Fashion week site here if you wish to find out more.

Also as part of a new month I will be posting a wish list. This wish list contains the pieces of clothing that I would like to buy during the month. At the end of each month I will do a post like this, welcoming you to the new month, give you my new wish list and summarise last months wish list and show you the pieces I got. Tips for colour blocking

Colour blocking is becoming a huge trend at the moment, the trend is so big that celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Camilla Belle, Rihanna and loads of other celebrities have been spotted sporting the trend.

For those who are unsure, Colour Blocking is where you combine different colours that support and compliment each other eg orange and purple, blue and purple, blue and green ect.

Here are some of my tips to pull of this trends:
Tip 1: If your are not confident enough to wear head to toe colour, pair your colour blocking colours with black.

Tip 2: If you want to give the trend a try but are a bit unsure at first try two colours eg you may want to get a top or dress which has two colours in it then pair it with black (see tip above).

Tip 3: Try colour blocking with accessories. Start with a bold top and colour block it with a matching necklace that way if you are still unsure about the trend you can just start simple.

Tip 4: Skin tone: If you have a pale skin tone then I recommend staying away from bright lemon yellow, instead try orange or coral. If you are unsure about pulling orange off check out my tips for pulling orange off here.

Body shape
Tip 5: If you are pear shape (that's me!!!) stick with a darker bottom half.

Tip 6: If you are apple shape try to avoid horizontal blocks & highlight your lengthy legs.

Tip 7: If you are hourglass opt for colour round the waist. Try a coloured waist belt. It will highlight your curves to perfection.

Just remember don't be afraid to experiment. Remember that at the end of the day be confident, let lose and wear the clothes, don't let them wear you!
